EC&I Commissioning Manager - Nuclear Defence (AWE, Berkshire)
Day Rate: £600-£700 (Outside IR35)
Clearance: SC or DV (or eligible)
We are seeking an experienced Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Commissioning Manager to join a major Nuclear Defence project at AWE in Berkshire. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in one of the most complex and challenging infrastructure projects in the UK today.
Your expertise will support the commissioning and demonstration of specialist equipment, building services, and control systems that are critical to the facility's operation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead EC&I commissioning activities across systems including BMS, HVAC and process plant equipment (Siemens S7 PLC-based).
Oversee commissioning documentation - review, production and approval of BMS, electrical and software documentation.
Manage commissioning issues through the reservation process.
Ensure safe and consistent application of testing and commissioning procedures.
Witness FAT, setting-to-work, and SAT activities.
Resolve test failures and manage commissioning work packages.
Apply knowledge of AWE commissioning procedures and ONR LC21 commissioning requirements.
Coordinate with suppliers and integrate test requirements into project schedules.
Deliver regular commissioning progress reports, chair reviews, and manage changes to schedules, resources and forecasts.

About You

Significant EC&I commissioning experience (BMS, ventilation plant or similar), ideally within the nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
Track record of leading commissioning teams on complex projects, preferably in defence or similarly technical sectors.
Strong technical knowledge of commissioning methodologies, safety standards, and control systems.
Skilled communicator, capable of building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:

Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Controls Engineering.
Knowledge of LV distribution, control systems, building services design, earthing & lightning protection.
Familiarity with IEC safety standards (61508, 61511, 61513).
Project management experience.

Security & Experience

Must hold or be eligible for SC or DV clearance.
Prior nuclear experience is essential - AWE project background highly advantageous
