Advertiser terms

The short version: genuine contract roles only, a human reviews everything within 24 hours, full refund if we say no — and if you’re not happy with the applications you receive, we refund you in full, no questions asked.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms apply to direct job listings bought on the ContractorUK jobs board through the post-a-job service. By submitting a listing and paying for it you agree to these terms. They sit alongside the site-wide terms of use.

2. Listing standards

The board stays useful because everything on it is real. Every listing must:

  • advertise a genuine, individual contract role that you are authorised to fill, one role per listing;
  • state the rate, location, working pattern and IR35 position accurately, to the best of your knowledge;
  • not exist to collect CVs, harvest candidate details or generate marketing leads;
  • not contain discriminatory requirements or anything unlawful, misleading or defamatory.

We may tidy formatting (spacing, headings, obvious typos) without changing the substance of a listing.

3. Review and going live

Every listing is reviewed by a person before it is published. We aim to complete review within 24 hours. We may approve a listing, ask you to change it, or reject it at our reasonable discretion, typically where it does not meet the standards above.

4. Payment, pricing and refunds

  • Listings are paid for in advance by card through Stripe. Prices exclude VAT; your checkout total, receipt and any VAT invoice come from Stripe.
  • Promotional codes apply as described at checkout and cannot be applied retrospectively.
  • If we reject your listing you receive a full refund to the original payment method, so you only ever pay for listings that go live.
  • Once your listing is live, the no-quibble guarantee applies: if you are not happy with the applications it receives, tell us while it is live or within 14 days of it ending and we will refund you in full — no questions asked. Email jobs@contractoruk.com from the address on your account, or reply to any email we have sent you about the listing.
  • If a listing is renewed — in one click or by auto-renew — the guarantee applies to each 30-day period separately: a claim refunds the fee paid for the current period, or the most recently ended one if you claim within 14 days of that period ending.
  • Refunds go to the original payment method and usually appear within 5–10 working days.
  • If we remove a live listing because it breaches these terms, no refund is due and the guarantee does not apply.

5. Duration, expiry and removal

Listings run for 30 days from the moment they are approved and published. We email you a reminder shortly before expiry, and an expired listing unpublishes automatically. Reposting it takes one click from your dashboard, and you can also renew a listing for a further 30 days — in one click, or automatically if you have auto-renew switched on; each renewal starts a new 30-day period for the purposes of section 4. You can ask us to take a listing down earlier at any time — the no-quibble guarantee in section 4 still applies.

6. Your content and applicant data

You keep ownership of your listing content and grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and promote it on ContractorUK and in our emails and social channels while it is live. You confirm the content is accurate and that you are entitled to advertise the role.

Applications go directly to you. For anything a candidate sends you, you are the data controller: handle it lawfully under UK data protection law, and do not use applicant details for anything other than the advertised role.

7. Our role and liability

ContractorUK is an advertising venue. We are not an employment agency or employment business, and we are not a party to any engagement that results from a listing. We do not guarantee any particular number of impressions, views or applications, and dashboard statistics are good-faith measurements rather than audited figures. What we do promise is the no-quibble guarantee in section 4: if you are not happy with the applications you receive, you get your money back.

Our total liability to you in connection with a listing is capped at the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you submit a listing is the one that applies to it.

9. Contact and governing law

Questions about a listing or these terms: use the advertising contact page. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
