MRP Controller / Production Planner Job Description:
The MRP Controller will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of existing and future manufacturing schedules, delivering Logistics Management activities and to ensure customer programmes are met in a timely manner.
The MRP Controller would typically report into a senior member of the Manufacturing Planning & Control team.
Responsible for the management and co-ordination of all planning related activities to deliver the Manufacturing Planning Schedule (MPS) to time, cost and quality. With the following main specific responsibilities: -
Co-ordination and execution of all activities related to the planning and procurement of materials. Ensuring the timely and adequate supply of materials so manufacturing can output the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
Release, manage and schedule all work in the MRP system, and ensure delivery forecasts are maintained and communicated to customers.
Ensure efficient and affective material inventories in line with inventory targets whilst minimising excess waste and costs. Maintain accuracy of the MRP system by conducting regular stock checks.
Work closely with the Supply Planner to communicate potential plan changes and resolve constraints in the supply chain.
Identify risks related to supplied parts to the planning and control team lead for escalation within the sales and ops process.
Work closely with Goods Receiving, stores and despatch (Logistic Services) to manage inventory levels, resolve queries, maintain MRP system accuracy and ensure the required paperwork is submitted for stores and despatch related transactions.
Support effective non-conformance management controls.

The Opportunity
An opportunity is available for a highly experienced SCADA/Control Systems Engineer to support a major nuclear project. The assignment will be based in Warrington, with Stockton-on-Tees and West Cumbria also considered. Hybrid working is available based around a working week of 40 hours. Rate will be dependent on experience due to the potential for candidates of different levels of seniority to apply.
The role will support the Lead Engineer and Project Manager in the updating and modification of an existing database. Knowledge and experience of integration in an OT environment, as well as of nuclear standards and processes, would be advantageous.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
To design, develop, implement and test HMI/SCADA control systems, producing high-quality and comprehensive engineering design documentation such as:

In addition to the above, the role will support the Lead Engineer and Project Manager in maintaining the planned delivery schedule, reporting technical issues, changes in scope and variations to the programmed activities where necessary as well as:
Designing and implementing HMI and/or SCADA applications (such as Rockwell FactoryTalk), producing standardised modules/objects, control faceplates and display screens in accordance with the design documentation and engineering standards.
Working closely with PLC and database engineers to develop the control system architecture, producing Network Architecture Diagrams and interfacing documentation, to support the visualisation of plant via an integrated Cyber Secure SCADA system.
Undertaking in-house acceptance testing in a formal, controlled manner of the integrated control system, ensuring change control management is maintained and recorded. Site acceptance testing (commissioning) may also be required.
Supporting the generation of installation and commissioning documentation, operator and maintainer training and technical site support post-delivery.
The candidate should have technical understanding of engineering design drawings, mainly in relation to control system cubicles, enclosures, and interface panels, to assist in ascertaining constraints and design impacts from site visits, working in collaboration with the engineering teams and stakeholders to produce designs and SCADA software to a high-quality level.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or demonstrable evidence of experience with a high emphasis on EC&I engineering using SCADA systems
Significant experience in the design and implementation of SCADA control systems.
Excellent understanding of SCADA programming, object-oriented scripting (C++, VBScript, Python, etc), PC/Server hardware and software, and communication protocols used in industrial (OT) control systems.
Significant demonstrable SCADA experience in EC&I industry(preferably Nuclear)
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability in SCADA programming and system design, including consideration of Human Factors and ergonomic designs.
Experience in producing control system functional specifications, detailed design documents and formal Test Specifications to ahigh-quality level.
Experience in network integration of industrial control systems, databases and third-party applications with SCADA applications.
Experience in undertaking formal and controlled testing and validation activities.
Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyse complex systems, identify problems, and implement effective solutions.
