Insurer for caravan live-in while working on site ?

    Hi,

Question as title : I am trying to find a firm who will insure a caravan while I stay in it during a contract. All the ones I've tried will only accept holiday use.

Anyone else been down this road and found an insurer happy to underwrite live-in use of a caravan ?

    Thanks,

    Boo

Are you absolutely sure about the wording there. The caravan club do insurance as long is its 'You are the caravan owner and it is only used for leisure purposes'. You are not doing business from it so isn't just living in it leisure?

Also I believe the term to caravaners is 'Full Timing' so use that in any searches. I did a few and this lot were mentioned more than once.

          Sadly they require that :
My caravan is only used for holidays (i.e. not for any business purposes)

But it's not being used for business purposes surely? Unless sleeping is your business.

Maybe you would just tell HMRC you like holidaying in <Insert Client Cos Car park Address Here>, <Insert Town Here>

Isn't it for business purposes in the same way as a hotel room or temporary let when working away on business is for business purposes?

Hmm. Interesting. I keep agreeing then coming up with a counter argument and then agreeing.

Maybe he could argue he's always wanted to visit somewhere beautiful and historic like Swindon as the primary reason and doing some work there is secondary.
