Leaving SJD Accountants

Got an email yesterday timed at 20:55 from my SJD accountant asking that I send in my completed spreadsheet, bank and card statements and a couple of other things immediately since I was facing serious fines for late filing and submission was due in a few weeks.

Shame I stopped using them in March 2017.

Shame they couldn't check with CoHo to see if I had filed last year's accounts.

Shame they still win accountancy prizes...

I've also asked they confirm they've removed my details from their system. I'm not hopeful of getting an answer.

Maybe this could be the beginnings of the first GDPR related fine?!

Or another way of looking at it, seems clients can stop paying SJD and they still do the work indefinitely #FreeAccountancy

Seriously considering this actually. They've been asked twice now, once in mid-2017 and again as part of my reply to their latest email. I'll have to wait a moth for an answer of course, but I'm in no rush...

Well yes, but would you hand over your business affairs to a bunch of incompetents? As we keep saying, you get what you pay for!

          Internally probably a complete mess.
I have stopped the Direct Debit - but I bet I get an email why the next payment doesn't go through.
Suspect they have gone into total non action mode and just deal with complaints and queries rather than anything proactive

I too am fed up with the deterioration in SJD's service and am looking to leave ASAP, part way through a year. I was left with no accountant for a month, no word as to what was happening, nothing. I'll see whether they make me pay for unused months...

Tempted with Dolan but quite like the thought of somebody local that I can actually meet with.

              Genuine questions:

Why do you want someone local? We hear this quite regularly but it’s absolutely not important at all.

What is it about Dolan that’s piqued your interest?

Oddly enough I went with a local guy first who wasn't a contractor specialist and he screwed it up royally and ended up leaving him to go to SJD. I had less than a year of nightmares with the local guy and 6 years of good service with SJD who I never met.

Don't go local guy. You don't need to meet them. You absolutely must go with a Freeagent account. That's the only criteria you need.

                Check my recommendations thread.

Thank you for the interest. We can indeed do face to face meetings. We also use FreeAgent as mentioned. Feel free to private message me, if you need any information about our services.

Thanks for this. We had a couple with the same problem too.

It is important for some people as it's how they like to do business. Doesn't bother me.
