View Full Version : Consultation on Tier 2 Visas

3rd September 2015, 16:02
I may well have missed it in the hubub about the other consultation and discussion paper, but there's also a consultation at the moment about Tier 2 visas - https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/call-for-evidence-review-tier-2-route

The MAC has been asked to look at:

options to re-focus the route on areas where there are genuine skills shortages
how to limit the time that sectors can remain on a shortage list
the implementation of a levy on Tier 2 visas, to fund apprenticeships
restrictions on the automatic right of Tier 2 dependants to work
tightening up on the intra-company transfer (ICT) route, including applying the immigration health surcharge to ICTs
raising the minimum salary levels that migrants have to be paid

The call for evidence document sets out the questions on which the MAC seeks views and evidence from partners, as well as how to respond.

The MAC is also keen to meet with partners to discuss the issues raised and will be arranging meetings and events.

The closing date for responses to be received by the MAC is Friday 25 September 2015 and partners are strongly encouraged to submit their evidence before this date.

If overseas workers are allowed to claim expenses, and we aren't, then that's yet another stick with which to beat us :(
