Listen, son, have you ever been in a restaurant with a nice lady and ordered a desert before heading home?
If so, what did you get - cherries, banana and fruits like that, or a tomato?

A tomtato is a fruit. Might not be a desert kind of fruit, but it's a fruit none the less. If I'm in a restauraunt with a nice lady, my wife will probably be asking some tough questions later in which case the genus to which the tomato belongs will be irrelevent. But it would still be a fruit.Hang on - there is actually a place called Cheddar?? - cailin maith

Fruits are cherries, bananas, peaches, apricots etc.
("I know it is so" doesn't work after age 10).
Scientific definition: "The ripened, fully developed ovary of a flower containing more than 1 seed".
Everyday mnemonic: a tomato is like Liberace, not a vegetable but a fruit.Comment
