I'm looking to change from limited company to umbrella - Alternet seems the most cost effective one to me - but has anyone had any experience with them - good or bad!

Thanks

You sure they are cost effective? What is the % charge?

The cost is 4% but with my rate & expenses etc they seem reasonable.

Hi Louhop,

First question - 4% of what net or gross?

Must admit I use a brolly with fixed fees - a percentage is OK until you start earning big bucks - work out 4% of 6 grand and then see if it seems so reasonable :eek

All brollies are pretty much the same so if you are happy with the figures then good luck with it ;)

Expenses are basically the same whichever umbrella you use.

4% is high IMO, if you earn £1K a week then that is £2K per annum. Most other umbrellas are cheaper than that and so is running your own ltd.
