    Help! - Agency dispute

    Hi,

I am currently working for a particular company. A friend on mine passed on my CV and I got the job as a contractor working directly for them, which is great.

The problem is that the agency my friend uses, is now p*ssed off big time because I have gone direct to the company and should have gone through the agency. So they lose out on the money.

Is there anything the agency can do which will mess up either of our jobs at this company?

    Thanks,

    Gordon.

No, as far as you are concerned. If they try, sue them for misrepresentation. You have no obligations to them in law.

You friend might, but it depends if there is a clause in his contract that can be interpreted as meaning that any and all introductions from him of any kind will be via the agency - I bet there isn't one.

Your friend should tell them that if they had a finder's fee he might have considered it (I presume they don't...)
