    software purchase

I’m on the verge of purchasing a license for a software product required to maximise the efficiency of my service to the end client. It’s that or excel and going blind detailing hundreds of formulas. The software is (or software company) is a well-recognised name throughout my industry; the trouble is it’s going to cost me £4K.

Part of me knows this is purchasing a name.

Have any of you guy’s made such significant purchases on software tools before?

Not on software but yes on vendor certs. That's because I've avoided needing an MSDN subscription so far, but plenty of chaps get them and that's bound to be more than £4k.
