Well today is my last day in my current gig.
Off to Goa at the weekend for 3 months in the sun.

Play nice while I'm off-line, don't want to come back and find you have been banned. Or banned again (you know who you are).

I will upload some photos to my website when I get there, so you can see the building site I will be living in to start with.

It will not be plane sailing, already had a phone call to say the solar pannels arrived, but they will not fit on the roof. So cold shower's for me.

Anyone know how to change the text under the avatar?

Envy is a sin...but I am none the less. Mind you, my son's laugh and smile make up for all the misery I have.

Enjoy your extended holiday!

Have a think about, you may not like it. 28 - 32 every day, no rain.
The builders are there during the day so you would have to go to the beach
and read a book or something. Are you sure?

Don't let the gruff exterior fool you. Underneath there's an equally gruff interior!

I seriously wish you all the best.

Electrics, I can do. Plumbing is a disaster, as I have found out to my cost.

I used Koenig Solutions, who were very good. There was a review in the Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/graduate/story/0,,2141207,00.html) earlier this summer, where I was officially described as lovely:

"It was so scary. The first few days I really thought I had made a mistake and I wanted to go home," she says. "The other students at the centre were so lovely, though, I was able to put the incident behind me."

Placcie or copper ? My regular cash plumber just had a heart scare and has downed tools. I'm thinking of tackling a bit of plumbing this next week or two but have always been a bit wary.

I can screw up any form of plumbing, I'm not picky! Unless you really wanted a water feature coming through your ceiling, in which case, I'm your man!

Find another plumber - it's not worth the hassle of doing it badly. Mine was so expensive as I needed an emergency plumber to repair the "work" I'd done.

Oracle 9i OCP DBA.

There were lots of people doing Cisco and M$ stuff there, too. It's hard work - certainly not a holiday.

this quote cracked me up from the article...

'IT courses can also help those mid-career, who want to broaden their skills. Vanessa Turner, 48, graduated in 2003 with a BSc in computing and IT from the University of Surrey. She had retrained after being made redundant from Seeboard Electric, where she had worked as a trainee developer for 11 years. Turner is now a senior IT technician at the Sutton College of Learning for Adults (Scola).
