Free Swimming For All By 2012

    This is fantastic news.

I shall certainly be voting Labour at the next election if this is the high standard of their policies. Good on yer, Gordon!

It wouldn't be swimming so much as floating around next to other floating people, 'cos the pools would be so full.

      Are you 56 or older?

"Over-60s are to be given free admission to public swimming pools in an £80m initiative"

Do you think the 80million (thats about 3.5 ukp of your money, btw) will come out of the 870 billion (that's a bit more) Olympic bill? The guys are running a pretty tight ship already, gonna be hard to allocate any more resource on this project.

Perhaps it will be Nu Lab's legacy - "After 13 years in power the struggle was finally over. The pensioners were free to swim again."
      Bored.

"Over-60s are to be given free admission to public swimming pools in an £80m initiative, part of a bid to get more people involved in sport by 2012."

That should help enable more olympic talent to be spotted!

A superb policy. I'm really pleased my tax pound is being spent on letting people go swimming for nothing. It's not like we're already spending more on public services than we have in two decades

Ah but if more people swim then they'll be healthier and not such a burden on the NHS.

then they will live longer, go into care for longer, then become a greater burden on the NHS
