Teachers in one part of the US state of Texas are to be allowed to carry concealed firearms when the new school term opens this month.

Given that it's perfectly legal to carry a concealed firearm in Texas other than in schools, this isn't as drastic as it sounds (to Texans). Personally I think a greater deterrent would be an unconcealed firearm. Who's going to argue with a teacher when they're conspicuously packing a .44 Magnum Automag.
