The Iran News Agency says a US "warplane" violated the country's territory and was forced to land.
The agency said five senior US military officials (described as US generals in one report) had been interrogated at an Iranian airport and released a day later after it became clear that the plane had not entered intentionally.
One report said the incident involved a US Falcon transport plane travelling fromTurkey tor Afghanistan.
But the Pentagon says that all its aircraft in the region were accounted for and that it had no reports of an Iran landing.
And Associated Press says that nationality of the plane is unclear. Iran's state-owned Al-Alam television quotes an unidentified senior Iranian official saying it belonged to a European aid agency
