    Recount

Watched Recount on TV last night.

This was the story of how Bush stole the 2000 election.

Even though had heard of the tactics used by the Republicans at the time, still interesting to see it dramatised.

That's not stealing - the election was very close one and nobody disputes the fact that Bush got 50% plus minus a bit. Elections are always close in the USA.

Stealing is when you are unknown never elected before minister of the security services, then some houses get blown up and you become PM without elections, and then president resigns and makes you acting as president until "elections" with total domination on TV/radio/etc. Now that's stealing.

How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican Operative is a good book about the nefarious tricks and dubious practices that are endemic to US politics - both sides.

Must be similar to Labour rigging postal votes.

How historically accurate is the film? It seems to be strongly suggesting Bush should not have won, was the film written by people suffering from sour grapes?

It is obvious that you don’t know what happened. Do a bit of reading first AtW.

              ^ WHS.

Just checked in on this post and, as ever, the board know-nothing has claimed post #2 with his usual ramblings based on what he read on an ice-cream lolly stick once.

got 50% plus minus a bit
Psst... atW, the whole point of free and fair elections is that the "plus/minus a bit" thing is what counts.
