Britain - Like Spain but without the weather

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7981302.stm

The Bank of Spain has predicted that the country's rate of unemployment will reach 17.1% in 2009 and 19.4% in 2010.

Spain has the highest unemployment rate in the European Union, with a rate of 15.5% in February, nearly double the EU average, according to Eurostat,

The Bank of Spain is also predicting that the public deficit will hit 8.3% this year and 8.7% in 2010, which is well over the eurozone limit of 3%.

It said that the economy would contract by 3% this year and 1% in 2010.

You see that? That's you that is.

I've been out there a couple of times lately - it is pretty bad already, so I hope it doesn't get too much worse. So many shops closed or with big "70% off" signs in the windows. (sigh)

Perhaps if the Spaniards did not spend so much time making the English feel unwelcome by ordering them to have their houses demolished, their economy might improve !!

The strength of the Euro though also is a major disincentive to visit Spain for a while.

        Fixed
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

          It's unlikely to benefit UK.

In any case Spanish banks did much better than UK ones as its Spanish bank that buys good parts of UK bankrupt institutions.

I wonder if Spain is now regretting the amnesty to 700,000 illegal immigrants in 2005?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

                  Hmmm, its a tough choice.

                  A) Being on the dole watching "Deal or No Deal" and "Richard & Judy" whlst its pissing with rain and freezing cold outside.

                  B) Being on the dole with a Sangria in hand under blue skies and a nice warm sun.

I think Glasgow's incapacity rate is about 17%, plain unemployment is about 5%. 25% of Glasgow's potential work force sits about and does nothing.
