They (the banks) have taken billions in our taxes to bail them out in return for naff all. They expect and got money off us for squandering our money while getting big fat bonuses. Time to put a stop to it.
They've taken nothing from us in return for naff all. They expect nothing from us and all they do is sit around meditating and being at peace with the universe.

Sorry, just playing devil's advocate...
Have they taken or borrowed the money. The NHS takes billions and doesn't
need to pay it back. I am sure that I have read somewhere that some of the
Banks have paid back the money.

The NHS is a service not a private bank, I know people who usually have little experience of the NHS love to knock it but I’ve certainly had far more than my monies worth over the years.
IMHO the NHS is much better than it used to be ten years ago... cue story about old lady on left to die on a trolley...
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
If you pressed a rifle into the hand of the man in the street and asked him to choose between two targets – an MP or a banker – who do you think would get the bullet? Tricky, eh? It is hard to know which of these two formerly respectable professions has fallen further in public esteem.
I'd make one stand behind the other, simples.

We all have anecdotes about the NHS good and bad. But just because something is getting better it does not mean it is any good. Whatever you say about private banks they are run primarily for the benefit of their customers. If someone in a private bank is not up to the job then they are fired.
The NHS just like a private bank and just like Tescos provides services to customers.
The debate that no one appears to want to enter in to is how to introduce the positive dynamics of capitalism (responsibility, accountability and market forces) to a service that is a little bit more complicated and critical than the provision of food and money.
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone
