Can they get away with this?

Just saw a job ad with this statement in it:

"in order to be considered for our program, we ask that all candidates first meet the following parameters: Australian Citizen desirable but not necessary Minimum 5 years experience in your field of expertise Degree"

Can they seriously get away with this?!

For a Rolf Harris impersonator maybe
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Depends on location - if they don't think you'll pass the local immigration rules, and an Aussie would, then yes.

errm if the job is in Oz then what's wrong with that - the gov is protecting their own workers in the downturn, would be good sometimes to see similar ads like that here to help clear the benches IMHO
This default font is sooooooooooooo boring and so are short usernames

When I was looking for work in Oz it was a common site to see "Australian Citizen only"

Australia like to promote using Australian people and goods generally. I think its a good thing. We should take a leaf out of there book instead of being spineless, politically correct wimps.
