    Changing my central heating

At the moment it uses gas which is quite expensive.

Do you think I could get the boiler modified to run on bank notes? Specifically GBP bank notes? I think it would be cheaper if it ran on burning paper currency.

Is rain water safe to drink? I get loads of the stuff yet my local water company still pipe it up the road and bill me £55 a month for it.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I wonder what the metal value of UK 'copper' coins is?

They've not been solid copper for a while now. Try sticking a magnet in a pile of coppers of varying vintage.

ETA I guess you know this hence the quotes around 'copper'

With some basic precautions it is perfectly safe.

The rain itself is clean and drinkable as is, but it;s what you catch and store it in that you need to be carefull with.

Having seen the crap that lives on our roof & gutters, I wouldn't be that keen - it would cost me more to maintain the roof/collection system each year that I'd benefit from being off mains water.

I love the comment on that page about introducing a 99p coin. Where do they find these people?

Eminently sensible idea if you ask me.

But what happens when shops will start charging £x.98 for items in order to get over the psychological "99p barrier"?
