That's incredible. Must have been terrifying.

And an honourable mention to the big plod in black, who in the first 12 seconds accidentally gets himself hit on the head not once but twice.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said the matter would be thoroughly investigated and that all officers involved will be found to have acted correctly and have no case to answer.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

While it seems that the police went a bit over the top, I'd hazard a guess that the "pensioner" was probably a cantankerous old git, who felt it was beneath him to have been stopped by the police - much less be issued with a ticket.

Smashing in the windows are standard plod tactic at the end of car "chase". I doubt he was pulling a GTA:V getaway, but at the same time, if he had driven away like Miss Daisy, I doubt the police would have felt the need to smash his window in.

So anyway, the whole story and not the BBC bleeding heart edited version as it goes is the guy was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, copper walks around the vehicle and the 'OAP' decides he's had enough, hits the copper as he drives off. So, that's

              (a) Minor offence not wearing a seatbelt

              escalates to

              (b) Failure to stop

              and

              (c) Assaulting or obstructing a constable in the exercise of his duty

The 'OAP' then decides to lead the police car on a 15 minute journey through the Welsh countryside ignoring the fact that the lights and sirens are blaring and only stops when he sees the Stinger.

His doors were locked and smashing the window to gain entry is standard procedure, why should he be any different? He still had the engine running and had already driven off once before with no regard to the officer at the side of the road.

Coincidentally, it appears Mr. Whatley is well known to the courts in that area for previous traffic and public order offences. Just because you're old, doesn't mean you can't be a ****. Take AssGuru as an example of that.

In many countries failure to stop car when police orders so may result in fire open on said car.

He did stop and according to the BBC he was given a ticket. If that is correct; he had the right to drive away. The law does not say that you have to wait around for the police to wab on.

Can you name those "many countries" they don't even do that in the USA.

Try resisting arrest in USA and report back your findings.
