What was the "network abuse?"

Does the SC Application process ask you to declare any activity to which you do not have a criminal conviction? If not, then don't need to declare it on the SC application.

Are you in a position where you are looking after the client's network? Well, you may wish to let the client know about your transgression if you really want to be honest. But you will need to bear in mind that the client may, depending on the transgression, frog march you out the door.

As long as you have not done anything wrong in your commercial career that has lead to dismissal for gross misconduct, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure some of us have done something wrong in our past.

Molesting an ethernet port?!

You will be fine as the SC won't check school and I assume as you were kicked off the course you wouldn't mention it on your CV etc anyway.

To be honest, I don't want to know what the OP did to a network cable or socket.

A good friend of mine was convicted of a fairly serious offence in 1998 and still got clearance. As logn as the network abuse wasn't allowing Osama Bin Laden free and open access to an MOD site, I am sure you'll be grand. They don't even ask for the information you have offered up, so only decklare it if you feel you need to. Personally, I wouldn't unless asked.
