EU tax to raise fuel prices by 25%

Gotta love the EU - They do the sceptics' jobs for them

New EU law could increase price of diesel by 25%

The European Union is set to propose new regulations which could see British fuel prices rise by up to 25 per cent.

Basing fuel tax on energy content rather than volume will mean a significant price rise for haulage companies and private motorists who use diesel.

Under the plan, EU tax commissioner Algirdas Semeta will call for separate taxes on carbon dioxide and fuel consumption.
(and if anyone has already posted this, I haven't been at the back today.)

If it prevents the World global average temperature rising a miniscule amount a very long time in the future it must be worth it.

A million scientists on the government payroll can't be wrong.

Why do papers even bother reporting this - it ain't gonna happen. Even Berlusconi isn't daft enough to push this through.

Cos they were secretly building up a vast war chest, literally.

("Ever closer union" remember, and you can't have a country without effective armed forces.)

But by now they must have had to blow most of it, trying to hold the EU together.
