    Where to put the warchest?

I may not be alone here (yes, did a quick search and can't find anything recent), but Investec are closing their High 5 Business Account by March 2013.

I've currently got my warchest split between Investec and a fairly poorly paying ING Direct account.

My plan is to close my company in a year or so, and therefore I'm only really looking at a short term investment so I presume it is a case of trawling around the web for the best deposit account interest rates. If I was looking longer term I would be buying property (and that is probably what I will be using the money for in a year or two, but not inside the wrapper of a Ltd Co).

Does anyone have any better / alternative ideas?

Get a flexible mortgage, take money as a director's loan, pay it back with interest when you wind up your company with a MVL. Watch out for 9 months after your company year end (change your company's year end if you have to) so you avoid the S455 charge.

Not a DIY option but your accountant/liquidator can advise you on exactly what you have to do to make all that work...

I was in the exact same situation (Funds split across multiple banks, planning to close LtdCo next year). I simply opened a Business Reward Saver with Santander, as I hold my Business Current Acct with them and so it was all done over the phone, same day.

If I was thinking longer term, then I would have gone for the Notice Saver per below, which currently pays more than Investec and also requires less notice.
