    Domain Names

Just out of curiosity what domain names personal and company related do you own?

obviously I dont expect you to list them exactly here but as an example (among many other side projects, family related domains etc.) I own:

    surname.net
    surname.co.uk
    surname.eu
    surname.de
(surname.com is taken and they want 5 grand for it!!)

    firstnamesurname.com

    companyname.com
    companyname.co.uk
    companyname.eu
    companyname.net

Is this going overboard or do you look at it like I do in that a domain name is like digital property and better to buy them up now with the option to sell them later when they are more sought after?

I was lucky to get in during the mid-late 90s and register a firstname.?.uk. My other firstname and surname options were already gone by that point.

My main company name also contains my family name, I have some of those as well, although sadly the unhyphenated .com belongs to someone else.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

so how do you go about getting a top level domain? doesnt it relate to applying for it with ICANN?

        EDIT: WTF !!!
The applications cost a whopping $185,000 (around £120,000) and many multinational companies have argued that this is a cynical move from Icann to make money from them by forcing them to protect their brands from cybersquatters at vast expense.

          aha

          123-reg says
Soon you will be able to register your .london, .nyc, .wiki or .reviews generic top level domains on 123-reg.

These new gTLDs are going to change the way you present and promote your business on the Internet. If you want to stand out from the crowd and enhance your brand's online presence, one of the new generic top level domains may just do that for you.

123-reg leads the UK with this domain revolution which means you will be able to pre-order and register your dream gTLD as soon as it becomes available.
