    Top marks for Bob!

    Amazing balls

My newish 27" DELL XPS One home PC has started playing up - video keeps flickering and eventually becomes unusable

Premium support chappie walked me through the diags (which I'd already done) and confirmed my assessment that there is a hardware fault so new component + engineer (sic) on it's way for install tomorrow

What struck me was the logical and comprehensive way he isolated the issue via a telephone - for a Bob very very good and not at all what I was expecting

Just gotta get rid of all the porn on the machine before the guy visits tomorrow
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

... and before anyone says I should have bought the Apple 27" - I wanted something usable in the real world without having to run an emulator

I had to ring Microsoft support the other week for my parents, and got through to India.

The guy quickly ran through the standard questions, sent me a link to download a fix which did the job, and rang back a couple of hours later to check that it had fixed it all for me.

      My flabber was gasted somewhat.

So I found out what AndyW is, but what's a Bob? Because I see the following in multiple threads but not sure how they relate:

          Bob, BobCo, Bob Agent

          ?

Based on the posts it sounds like some redneck or chav tech support placed in the role for legal reasons on some new government scheme they can't afford.

I have finished my studies and I'm looking for work. If anyone's interested:

          - I make excellent coffee.
          - I'm ethically flexible. Very open-minded.
          - I live within my means, no financial risks, no gambling.
          - I don't have a religion, so no sneaky conversion attempts.
          - I buy the first round.
          - Easily adaptable to new groups, environments... go with the flow type.

Ok then, you could have bought an Apple 27" imac and still ran windows natively and had a Imac + Second Thunderbolt display all using Windows and had the benefit of using local labour to fix your problems rather than playing guess my issue over the phone

                What rubbish !!

Presumably that model of PC you bought was manufactured with that defect, was sold in thousands to muppets, they started ringing in hundreds, bobs ran around confused about the problem, some wise guy found what the problem is, sent around a memo to all chaps in contact centre with a script and bingo, they can solve it now over the telephone.

                Pah!

Bob is the racist term used on CUK to describe anyone from India. It used to mean someone who had a distinct lack of quality (much cheapness, plenty quickness) but is now just used to describe Indians.
