Historical comparisons to the current state of affairs

Things have got worse than Suez, so as the gammons love a WW2 analogy, this is the nearest 20th century equivalent to the mess in parliament: Norway Debate - Wikipedia

The good news, is that that parliamentary debate in 1940 brought Churchill to the prime ministership. The bad news is that BoJo is the Tories' current Asda Smartprice Churchill offer. The best of the current bunch looks like Keir Starmer, or Dominic Grieve, but there's no obvious route for either of them to the PM position.

Here's something from history that puts things in perspective.
The results of the Quebec Referendum of 1995.

    Yes:49.4% (Quebec should become sovereign)
    No:50.6%

No problems there in putting that question to bed for another generation on the basis of such a slender margin. The establishment got the answer it wanted...

        So getting interesting.

Basically Labour will be proposing the Common Market 2.0 amendment, if that fails it will be almost certainly no deal.

May's deal is effectively dead, it's Corbyn's deal or no deal.

        That will focus minds

There we have it, Corbyn is now effectively in control.

        I'm alright Jack

No deal guarantees that this will go on for years.

Are you mad? This is great entertainment. What is needed is a 21 month extension, with a last minute second referendum, narrowly won by Leave, with parliament then ignoring the result.

No deal will cause short term pain for many people. They will blame the Tories and UKIP. At the next GE both these parties will suffer in the ballot box. The Tories may even tear themselves apart completely.

And they say Brexit has no upside

No deal probably will ensure destruction of two main UK parties, which is the only good thing Brexit can bring

You forgot to add the Hollywood film deal in which Arnie (playing president Trump) parachutes in shoots everyone and saves the day.
