I am estranged from one of my parents. I made a note on the form and got it fine.

Same here and I’ve successfully had it renewed. Just say you’re estranged and don’t know dates.

My dad got remarried for example - I don’t know when and nor was I interested but the MoD were. Just be honest on the form and if they have any queries they’ll ask.
