Do I smell a permie mindset here?!

I've been permie for 23 years and contracting for less than two, so perhaps. You mentioned on another thread that your warchest is 2-3 years, mine is currently about 6 months, but I still get nervous at the prospect of waking up on Monday morning knowing I'm not earning anything.

Can you clarify what I've said that makes you detect a permie mindset?

I've been contracting for 10 years and still have a thread of fear when I don't have any work lined up or anything in the pipeline.. Strangely, my war chest seems to vanish really quickly when I'm not earning anything

obviously it just isn't big enough (as NLYUK said to FLC).

I used always used to panic about that as well. It's what drove me for so long. Then last week when sitting in a bar, I opened my laptop and checked what is was & then realised it was large enough to get to me retirement at which point my private pension would kick in and I didn't have to work again.

I then subsequently gave in my notice.

              Which was nice.

one day.....when I stop paying for a stash of dependents.
In the meantime, f&£k it, I'm off on holiday to deplete my war chest even faster

Ah I see. I don't think I'm expecting continuity, but I still get a bit jittery when it doesn't happen

Having some time off will give me a chance to come up with a Plan B idea at any rate!
