In jobs like that it's not just the money it's the bureaucracy. No one goes into social work, teaching, nursing, policing etc to be rich but to make a difference to people's lives.

BTW This is one thing the doctors are failing to grasp. They are now classed in this group of people by the government.

I didn't mean pay (though they are paid peanuts). There is a chronic lack of funding of social care, mental illness etc.

That's because people are suppose to rely on their families and big society.

I though there was no such thing as big society.

That was a Thatcher speech. It was taken out of context but was apt due to the millions she put on sickness benefit or the dole.

It's being a while since Camoron talked about Big Society, have not heard a word recently and when he spoke about it was clear to me that what he really meant is that Govt will cut funding of local services and he expected people to raise up in Big Society and do those jobs for free as volunteers. Big Society...

Thatcher was an evil witch worshipped by the greedy and the selfish.

Thatcher believed in small government and encouraging people to be rewarded for hard work and creating things people wanted.

Since her demise the rewards have been for spongers and free loaders.

100% inheritance tax, 100% rental income tax and no foreign ownership would be a start.
