Par for the course now is to let MPs hang themselves by letting them talk at the beginning of interviews instead of interrupting them to ask them questions.

All current politicians can thank Blair for this journalistic tactic as due to him all politicians learnt to speak in sound bites e.g. strong and stable government, xxx is a danger to national security so there is no point in asking them questions.

Oh and apparently out of the 7 or so interviews she did today that's the one she completely fecked up. Guess Diane isn't a morning person which makes her unsuitable for any cabinet position

Amusing as it was (and I laughed like a drain as I listened to it) it's worth putting it in perspective.

This was the equivalent of somebody in a whiteboard tech interview having a brain freeze and forgetting how to implement bubble sort. Embarrassing, maybe, but it would only be of significance if such interviews had any relevance to what the job really involves; and we all know they don't. They're just a waste of everybody's time, revealing nothing of value about the candidate's capabilities or suitability

This is true. Anyone with half a brain already knew how incapable and unsuitable this candidate was, so it revealed nothing.
