After the magnificent festival of golf we have witnessed on these shores beginning with the Irish Open 4 weeks ago, the blue riband event has been won by the most boring man in the game. Boring, boring Speith.
I had such high hopes of some home grown talent coming through this year - Tommy Fleetwood maybe or Poults considering the form he's been in. I actually lost £100 when I had a flutter on Francesco Molinari - my man didn't even make the cut.
On a positive note, it was good to see Ellie Barbour slip into Hazel Irvine's shoes so effortlessly. I think television coverage is safe in her hands.
By the way, I don't know if any of you are watching the highlights on BBC Television but I've just seen myself (yep, I was there . I'm wearing a ping sun visor with a diamond patterned Pringle vee neck and am carrying a large, pink Taylor Made golfing umbrella. See if you can spot me!
