    We are currently recruiting for a Junior Business Intelligence Developer to work with one of our prestigious clients based near Russell Square. This is a full time, internship starting towards the end of February/early March 2020.

    About the Job:

    The Junior Business Intelligence Developer post is part of the Business Intelligence & Development Team. This role is intended as a learning role. It is designed to give the post holder a wide exposure to Business Intelligence and Systems Development within a general informatics environment. The post holder will work under the direction of the BI team and will, where appropriate, be given discrete projects to develop their experience.

    Key Responsibilities Include

    Designing, building, testing and maintaining databases, dashboards, reports, portals, and application software
    Developing interactive analytical reports using BI software (eg Tableau, PowerBI)
    Coding using existing tools (eg Visual Studio, SQL Server, Git, Jira) across a variety of languages (inc SQL, C#, JavaScript, HTML, VBA, etc)
    Developing ETL data transformation processes
    Requirements gathering and technical input into design and development of BI components
    Supporting thorough testing of BI solutions, creating test scripts and managing user acceptance testing
    Bug fixing
    Occasional deputising for the Senior Business Intelligence Analysts
    Planning and estimation of software design and delivery
    Adopting continuous integration development practices
    Experience and Knowledge:

    This is a learning role with substantial training offered throughout the fixed term, and so substantial work experience is not expected. However, candidates are expected to show a desire and appetite for development work and should be able to reference examples of this.

    Knowledge of data models and the ability to produce appropriate models using modelling techniques.
    Knowledge of a relevant database technology such as SQL Server, MySQL, MS Access, Oracle
    Some knowledge of project management and service management methodology frameworks; approaches and tools such as PRINCE2 and ITIL
    Knowledge of a programming language, such as C#, VB, VBA, JavaScript, T-SQL, Python
    Experience of using maths in a technical development environment
    Apply the maths required to be a BI developer (eg algorithms, logic and data structures) work in teams and build relationships
    Skills and Abilities:

    The post holder must be able to

    Design, build and test BI solution components by
    Writing good quality logical code with sound syntax in at least one language
    Developing effective user interfaces and reports
    Linking code to databases and data storage
    Understanding the structure of queries and programs, testing code, using a debugger and analysing the results
    Analysing data and creating simple data models and software designs
    Understand and work effectively at all stages of the development lifecycle and
    Can use skills to build, manage and deploy code and reports into different environments
    Understand and use source-control, version control and continuous integration effectively
    Understand and use coding standards and best-practice as defined by the organisation
    Create user cases and user stories and understand basic analysis artefacts
    Understand object-oriented, event driven and procedural programming techniques
    Respond to the business environment and business issues related to Business Intelligence development
    Behaviours and Values:

    Pay rate - £376.25 per week

    Nothing wrong with that. Junior position with less than average remuneration as you'd expect looking at the client. They've cut and pasted requirements so hardly applicable bearing in mine the two factors I already mentioned.

    You are just being a bit precious. Get your application in. The fact you can't do any of the requirements should be a stopper for you.

      Can't argue with that. In terms of their shopping lift, I think that's foolish and will just put off many would be excellent applicants.
