Just watching Unreported World (yes, I know, a bit woke, but sometimes it's of interest). It's a documentary about locusts swarms. Apparently, in ancient times, people offset the loss of crops by catching the insects and eating them.
Nowadays, governments and large farming concerns who need the crops, are spraying the locusts with insecticide. So you can't eat them.
Shame. They're awfully tasty.
