From the Murdoch press:
The BBC announced its decision on Monday after the Proms conductor Dalia Stasevska, who is from Finland, pushed for the songs to be dropped because of their associations with slavery and Britain’s colonial past.
So there is some kind of wokeness going on. Stasevska hasn't commented, and the BBC will neither confirm nor deny. Some musicians have stated it would be bad to force black people to sing such songs. There's no evidence that the BBC decision is due what Stasevska allegedly said.
