Default 'Huge job cuts' for public sector

As many as 350,000 public sector jobs could be lost over the next five years, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is warning...
Chief economist John Philpott says the recession will bring "a bloodbath in the public finances" ...
"The CIPD's current estimate is that the fiscal squeeze implied by government plans will result in a total of 350,000 job cuts in the public sector overall between 2010/11 and 2014/15.

So have we got high unemployment (& high immigration) and public sector strikes to look forward to over the next 5-10 years? What affect will this have on house prices?

If this involves a root-and-branch removal of the non-jobs (e.g., the stuff that fills the jobs pages in the Guardian) that seem to be provided by Government then GOOD.

I would guess that at least half of that number will be contractors, so goodbye to the last gravy train left in UK contracting.

We should all become NHS Doctors. They are highly paid public sector workers and are impossible to sack.

Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

The thought of scraping by on £200K pa is a shocking prospect for most people though.
Three-and-a-half years, two extensions, seven defections, 21 deselections, three prime ministers, countless amendments, two prorogations, one Supreme Court judgement, 66 million Brits losing the will to live and were still at square one...

    Google:

    1. Andrew Wakefield
    2. Rohen Kapur
    3. Robin Lawrence

The NHS might not be able to sack 'em, but the GMC sure can and thus the NHS must.

Yeah, admittedly you can be shunned if you rock the NHS boat.
