If you want an employer who'll invest in you, you're probably better at a small privately owned company OR a government agency; the big listed corporates don't invest in people because they do everything short term and just hire in the knowledge when they need it; investing in their own staff doesn't pay any returns when the quarterly redundancy randomiser button is pressed. So you either pay for training yourself (OU is pretty cost-effective), or find a job somewhere with low staff turnover.
