    Default HDD.. How much !!!

I bought from Amazon.de 2 x 2Tb disks to beef up the NAS server in August 2010, Western Digital WD20EARS cost EUR 105,54 each.

Have just looked for exactly the same disks, EUR 179.95 each

madness, I think I'll just do some housekeeping on the NAS instead.

The scaly one is right, Thai floods knocked manufacture and now a lot of the existing stock has been bought up and costs pushed up to take advantage.

I've dug out a couple of 'old' 320gb SATA drives I had previously upgraded to 1TB and 2TB in my NAS as temporary extra space until the prices come back down.

One of the benefits of having the HP Microserver with 4 standard HD bays and 2 additional bays (1 x 2.5" and 1 x 3.5") having converted the 5.25" optical drive bay is it's got room for a few temporary drives.

All for the price of around £100 after the £100 cashback from HP, and the VAT was reclaimed.

I notice they've upgraded the spec of the Microserver so it's got a faster dual core cpu and comes with 2gb ram as standard. Tempted to get another as a spare while they're still offering the £100 cashback.
