There are very few you could say that about these days.
    ^ Well said, same here

Very true. At least with him you got the impression he believed what he said.

Credibility and integrity I suppose summed him up for me.

          RIP

Has Suity been on yet to explain how this is part of the global conspiracy to reduce dissenting Leftie voices for the impending confrontation with Vladimir?

Now we need a third one to make a hat-rick. Who's it going to be?

            Scargill? Owen Jones? Gordon Brown?

            Place your bets please..

Although he was a little left wing for me he was certainly a great man.

Was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times. Very charming and likeable.

              RIP.

                A rare principled politician.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near the levers of power, even Harold Wilson thought he was unhinged, but otherwise it was good to have had him around.

Owen Jones, because he's got a slim chance of being a future Labour PM and would love the grim reaper to visit that smug git
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

"... the pressure brought to bear in industrial disputes by the unions is minuscule. This power was revealed even more clearly in 1976 when the IMF secured cuts in our public expenditure. [...] These [four] lessons led me to the conclusion that the UK is only superficially governed by MPs and the voters who elect them. Parliamentary democracy is, in truth, little more than a means of securing a periodical change in the management team, which is then allowed to preside over a system that remains in essence intact. If the British people were ever to ask themselves what power they truly enjoyed under our political system they would be amazed to discover how little it is, and some new Chartist agitation might be born and might quickly gather momentum.”

Was he still alive? I guess he must have been.

Definitely one of the more honest ones.
