But they could have asked for evidence that you'd been laid off. If you have a P45 then that's what you show them, but if you haven't done it properly then you could struggle.

I'm not sure I could be bothered to stop the payroll and issue a P45 after every contract, so that I could go and argue with the Dole Office about my entitlement, before going into another contract.

Given that we're on an internet forum, and you're quoting someone from another forum post, assuming that you have copy/paste functionality (which would be a more than reasonable assumption to make) then all of the [sic]s really aren't necessary.

It's not big and it's not clever. It just makes you look like a tool.

Right. You'd have to be a pretty crappy contractor for signing on to even be worth the effort!

I would want to add some kind words about thanks for past service, current market conditions and hopes for the future.

I disagree. People who have presumably had an education and still can't be arsed to properly use punctuation, should be humiliated in public as much as possible. [Sic]s, s and generally pointing out and laughing at their failures is just providing a much needed public service and should be done as much as possible.

But surely if you sack yourself as an employee that is the same as leaving a job - really not going to take a genius to work it out is is!!!

I'd still have to stop the payroll, though.

That is also useful feedback. Thank you.
