Also received the same email tonight. I suspect it may be confirmation of the write-off statement they said they would produce at the end of May, specifically for Sanzar and Darwin scheme users, who received the write-off email notification in early May.

However I have no intention of going to get it...!

I don't come under the write off companies. This is just their clumsy tactic to try to get you to contact them and let them know the email address they have for you is live. Don't do it. Ignore them like you would the Nigerian Prince. A scam is a scam and this one isn't sophisticated anymore.

If you have opened the email tonight (or any from them) their emails to you contain tracking code so they know you have opened it... therefore they know already your email is live.

To stop this you have to switch auto load images off on your email settings on all devices.

However they also said on May 2nd, in the write-off email to some people:

“We will be producing an updated End of Account statement in the 31 May 2020 statement.

The Client Gateway will be open for another 30 days after that date so that you can continue to see your statements.”

This is what I suspect it is, for some people at least.

ETC tax have produced a detailed report with their findings and provide some logic to that question. Seems It depends on the scheme, when you were in it, and what paperwork you signed (or not). Join EtC tax if you haven’t already and still require some assistance.

This doesn't happen in spam, it doesn't get downloaded and thats where I open mine. Add to spam!

It's not quite the same as a Nigerian Price, is it?. The Nigerian Princes haven't invested money/effort in tracking down people's new addresses, or engaging debt collection agencies.
I agree it's a scam, but I don't think for most of us, it's so easy to dismiss it.

If anyone has been brave/stupid enough to connect to the "gateway", to see the evidence, or the write-off statements, please post the details.
