Smoked pancetta omelette for lunch, which made a nice change

The eggs were over a month past their BBE date, though they’d been in the fridge, so I did that thing of putting them in water to see if they were still OK. Lo! the first one popped straight back up to the surface, denoting non-edibility

The remaining two were OK though

Wimp! A mere month? Feck me nothing to worry about there.

As long as they don't cheep you're ok.

2 buckets of windfall pears in the compost heap.

13 buckets of windfall apples in the compost heap.

              More blackberries picked.

Got rained on while I was doing the picking.

Sky is still grey but there's a sort of extremely wan sunshine as well as it attempts to lull me into a false sense of security.

I think I'll have a nice bonfire later. <- bonfire rather than me, hopefully.

Tea this evening was a Ginsters Cornish pasty and the remains of a medium size (or it was when it started out) Morrisons pork pie with egg.

All of which was followed by some stewed blackberries and custard which was very nice and rounded off with 1.05 pints of Good Glengettie Tea and a smidgeon of cheese.

One aged egg is no great loss. If the worst comes to the worst, I have to go over the road to Sainsbury’s Local to get some fresh ones, but at least I dodged that bullet with two of them being OK

And that’s The Martian finished. A very enjoyable read, I thought

The evening's entertainment began with "Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)" with Sly Stallone, Richard Crenna, and Steven Berkoff.

                    It was good.

Now watching the Alaska Aircrash Investigation thing on Smithsonian.

                    Pretty grim.

                    <hiatus>

                    Bonfired.

                    Showered.

Looked through the Freesat channels & found nothing.

                    Bored.

                    Now.

I'll have to read a goddamn book.

Chicken casserole out of the freezer for tea

Looks like the showers and occasional thunder are over and done with for today.
