    Evening all

Had a nice afternoon out today catching up with a friend I haven't seen for a while. We went to the V&A to see (courtesy of her membership):

Tim Walker: Wonderful Things a rather innovative photographer

    and

Food: Bigger than the Plate which I'm not sure what it was about but I did laugh at 'Museo Della Merda' who make 'Merdacotta' products out of cow dung mixed with Tuscan clay. Needless to say, HWMBO is getting a tulip present this Christmas

We then took the bus up to Portobello Road for a mooch around the charity shops (better quality cast offs round these parts) and then retired to the Portobello Star pub to escape the rain.

        I learned sommat today.

According to the Beeb, there's a star with an impossibly large planet 284 trillion km away.

284 trillion km turns out to be 30 light years.

Why the feck would you define a distance like that in km?

Actually it's 9.2 parsecs but there you go.

This evening's ep of "Jeremiah" was "Journeys End in Lovers Meeting".

It was ok, but not one of my favourites.

For no readily apparentl reason I particularly like "To Sail Beyond the Stars", being about a girl who has the ambition to sail across the Pacific to see what's there.

well, my hand crafted steak, mushrooms and chips dinner was excellent.

if a tad more than i usually eat at one sitting.

          what is this 'handcrafted' thing?

is it another bit of hipster bolloks?

how do you 'handcraft' 20,000 gallons of beer, for instance?

          dear me.

now heard <again> a US techie guy explaining how the 'vomit comet' pilots could achieve '0 Gravity'
                in earth's atmosphere.

they wouldn't have needed fecking great chemical bombs to get into orbit if they actually do that.

                dear, oh dear.

Are you familiar with the FFF System of measurement?

When we ***** *** ** (i.e. ******) then we will be using it as the national standard, and I, for one, am ready.
