    Files called sigxx.tmp

I seem to be getting a lot of these files (sig1.tmp, sig2.tmp etc. etc.) appearing in c:\windows folder.
This has only recently happened, the files seem to be originating at PC boot-time.

Of course I can delete these files, but I would prefer it if they didn't appear in the first place.

Does anyone know what these files are, and how to get rid of them for good, SpyBot and Avast don't seem to do anything.

    Thanks.

    Guess why?

Answer: Looks like Avast is creating them! Though maybe they should be going elsewhere so Avast can clean them up. May be worth checking the Avast settings.

See this thread (I found via googling 'sig.tmp' ) for more info:

sig.tmp files in C:/WINDOWS/Temp folder - what is that?
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

I'll look into this, thanks. The folder in my original post should have been c:\windows\temp as you probably guessed, this is what happens when you post in the early hours....
