Atleast we can make money without worrying about Taxman
Being outside IR35 and the pressure everyday of being sent a notice by HMRC is a pain and increase BP and Diabetes risk ... health is wealth"I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

Interesting reading this thread. So I have just started a contract working in on a project which will start and finish in the next 12 months. Job spec is specific.....deliver this project. There are multiple other projects going on in this office as well however everyone is contracted to a project and all projects pay a different rate.
The agent who is paying me has told me they have all their contracts reviewed for ir35 and I fall outside. My accountant says I fall outside. My agent doesn't know my working practices however from what I know about ir35 I do not see myself falling into it.
This is in engineering and the last 4 client I have worked for the entire project delivery teams have all been contractors cause people just simply will not go staff in engineering and are talking about this new roll out and still saying they will not go staff.
So what's the end client going to do? Give an ultimatum... Go staff or go umbrella.... Yet there's a company across the road (I live in a very dense engineering area) that could take you on Ltd and there we go projects fail as clients can't recruit and people jump ship to clients who will take you on as a Ltd company. I know contractors who have more than enough money in the bank and said they will happily take time off for abit if need be.
I just really don't believe this is the end of the world and I think there are so many doom and gloomers on here saying it is the end...

You don't think your agent has a vested interest in soothing your childlike understanding of IR35?
You're in for a rude awakening if you're relying on your agent (especially) and accountant to inform you about things for which they're completely unqualified to offer an opinion.Comment
